Did you know you don't have to be an author to earn money from ebooks?

We, and many other authors, sell our e-books at multiple e-retailers. One of them is Smashwords which offers a simple method for you to make money by posting about the books you like on social media. It's really easy but you'll have to become a Smashwords affiliate. That's easy too.

Becoming a Smashwords Affiliate

You can earn 35% commission on our book sales there! You'll need a Smashwords account which is easy to set up here. You'll also have to register as an affiliate. Check out how to do that here.

Once you've done that you'll be given a Smashwords ScreenName. You simply append the text, "?ref=yourScreenName" at the end of any Smashwords book web address and paste that link in your social media pages, web pages etc. To make it even simpler Smashwords will show a link to the book with your affiliate code already added at the bottom of each book page.

Add a description or recommendation if you wish.

Smashwords makes affiliate payments by PayPal but won't make payments until you've earned at least $25.00.

Immortality Gene and Raging Storm are free at Smashwords so they doesn't earn affiliate payments but by all means link to them if you wish. If the reader looks at other Smashwords books after following their links you'll get affiliate payments on any purchases they make:

You can use affiliate links with other books at Smashwords but not all of them are in the program. Affiliate payments are between 11% and 85%. The vast majority are 11%. Here's an example of an affiliate link at Smashwords:

Promotional images you can use.

Right click them and save them for use on social media. Use an editor to change the links to a shortened link of your own. bit.ly and smarturl.it work well. It's no longer essential to keep such links short so customise them to make them easy to type. In the above example I used http://bit.ly/GuideToBikeTouring
